Before School Programs

Chess Club:
The Muddy Brook Chess Club, coached by Dr. Gene Kalish, meets every Monday and Tuesday morning at 8am in the MBE library and is open to all members of the Muddy Brook Community who want to play or learn how to play chess.  Chess is a fun, intellectually challenging game that can be enjoyably played by players of many different abilities.   It is a game that fosters foresight and patience and has been played by both children and adults for over 1000 years over almost the entire world.  Come join the fun!

Nature Club:

The Muddy Brook Nature Club, lead by Mr. Chamberlin, meets every Wednesday morning from 8 – 8:30am in room 205. Students will take nature walks, observe nature with binoculars, magnifying glasses and microscopes. Students will also do nature based craft projects and learn about animals and plants from books and videos.

Math Club:

Join Mrs. Haskell on Thursday mornings from 8 to 8:30am to have fun with math! Students K-4 are invited to play math games, engage in STEM activities, and solve math puzzles and problems. Activities are set up in centers to give students a variety of options and promote student choice. Our goal is to boost children’s self-confidence in math, develop mathematical reasoning, and have fun with hands-on math experiences before the school day begins!
